Acts 26:24-32 says, “24And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. 25But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. 26For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. 27King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. 28Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. 29And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds. 30And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them: 31And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds. 32Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.”
The Apostle Paul was a man who was able to preach the gospel to all levels of society, from the poorest to the wealthiest, from the most common to the highest in political power and authority. This story was no different, as Paul was bring tried in court while being bound in chains. Instead of allowing his persecution to dictate his faith in God, he decided to step into this door of opportunity to declare the gospel of Jesus Christ and share his testimony of the works that God had accomplished in his life. In the midst of defending his faith, he asks King Agrippa, “Do you believe the prophets? I know you believe.” Agrippa responds to Paul, “You almost persuade me to be a Christian.” King Agrippa was in the place where many are today: the Land of Almost.
The Land of Almost is a place where you are on the brink of the greatest breakthrough you have ever experienced, but you never reach it. You are at the threshold of the greatest revival you have ever seen, but it is aborted through disbelief. You are so close to heaven that you can almost taste it, but you never do because of this little sin in the closet that you refuse to repent of. It is the land of almost where the children of Israel were in the wilderness. They were twelve days away from the promised land, but due to their bad attitude, which was displayed through their consistent complaining and murmuring, an entire generation had to die out so that a new generation of faith could arise and enter into Israel’s destiny. Being captivated and held back in the land of almost can destroy your future and purpose. You must choose to fully believe in God’s Word and activate your faith through obedience if you ever want to transition from the land of almost to the land of promise. Do not “almost” be persuaded; be fully persuaded!
