Imagining God’s Thoughts

Ephesians 1:18 (TPT) says, “I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling—that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!”

Ephesians 3:20 (TPT) says, “Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.”

Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

It is amazing how we were created with an imagination. Imaginations are just part of the way we think. How we analyze and reason can determine the outcome of those imaginations. Are we equipped with the mind of Christ or the mind of this world, which is a mind of doubt and victimization?

As sons and daughters of Yahweh, we have this spiritual DNA within us to have a creative mind. We were created to form and invent. For example, when a husband and wife become a father and mother, they have formed a child with the creative ability God has given them. We were born to imagine and create!

The problem is that instead of allowing the light of God to illuminate our vision and the mental pictures we create within our minds, we allow the darkness of evil to do it. Our imagination will either be formed by faith or fear. If based on faith, we will begin to see circumstances and vision through the eyes of God, and we will write down the vision and work towards making the necessary steps to see it come to pass. Nothing can derail us from it. If based on fear, we will create offenses in our own minds and will never be able to accomplish God’s purposes for, in and through us. We are limited, never willing to take a risk out of see the potential of failure. *Fear can either turn your imaginations into a haunted house, filled with nightmares, or a fairy tale story, filled with fantasies of what could have or should have been. Faith transforms your imaginations into vision, paving roads for them to be fulfilled. If we want to see the mind-blowing works of God fulfilled, then we must allow faith to control our imaginations and cast down any imagination that opposes His Will. If an imagination is filled with lies, then we must believe and do the opposite. Of course, it should never come from a defensive place or we will never advance the kingdom of God! It must be to seek for the truth, and then we will walk in the blessing and favor of the LORD and see dreams become reality!

A good illustration to use to describe how imaginations work is satellite TV. A programming source, such as ESPN, FOXNews, etc., is broadcasted through such satellite companies as Dish or DirectTV. The broadcasting center receives messages from the programming center and send them to satellites in orbit, which in turn sends these signals to a dish. The viewer’s dish picks up the signal from the satellite and then transmits it to the receiver, which processes the signal and passes it onto the TV (https://electronics.howstuffworks.com/satellite-tv2.htm). Our imaginations will always be stemmed from a thought, and if it is not a God-thought, then it will be stemmed from an event that has happened or something that someone else has said. That event or word sends a message to the prince of the power of the air, who sends a signal to our thinking process, creating a mental picture in which we sit and entertain. We properly position ourselves to receive these signals when we need to align ourselves directly with the throne room of heaven and allow His creativity to stir our imaginations.

If you want to test and see if the imagination is in alignment with God’s, worship! Jeremiah 3:17 says, “At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.” When God builds a throne upon your heart, no evil imagination can come from your heart. Imagining out of a place of worship allows us to tap into the creative mind and ability of God. It is opens a channel between heaven and you to where God can speak and His presence can come and minister. We build a throne that attracts His presence when we worship, and then we allow Him to step into our thoughts and imagination. Therefore, having imaginations are not a bad thing. We are created to imagine. It is just about dreaming God’s dreams for us!

The problem is when our worship becomes vanity in teaching for doctrines the commandments of men as absolute truth (Matthew 15:9; Mark 7:7). Your worship becomes vain when you follow the traditions of men, which makes God’s Word ineffective (Matthew 15:6; Mark 7:13):When you make a religion out of an experience, then your worship has become useless and empty. You will never tap into the imaginations of God when you live in the fear of man rather than the fear of God!

Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” God’s imaginations are greater than our own. This is why we worship. Worship opens the channel for God to speak to us. *Anything that spawns creativeness is worship, such as writing songs and music, painting and drawing what you see in the Spirit, or developing and creating businesses. The purpose of your worship is to glorify God, not for personal gain and ambition.
