Faith by Hearing, Not Seeing
Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight”.
Many of us deal with the Thomas mentality. It is “I believe when you show me”, rather than “Show me and then I will believe”. If we aren’t careful, we will chase signs, wonders and miracle instead of the presence of God Almighty. We will simply look for the spectacular and be passionately drawn to its entertainment, living a version of Christianity that is diametrically opposed to that of the Book of Acts. Our faith is not elevated by what we see, but rather by what we hear!
The problem is that we put our faith in the wrong resources because we believe what we hear even though we have not seen it ourselves. Our faith in critical and negative viewpoints increases to new levels when we hear gossip or constantly pump our minds with the filth of social media. We must be willing to open our spiritual ears and listen to God’s voice being declared in our generation. We must seek to hear His voice and not abide in the opinion and fear of man. It is time for our faith to increase in the right resources, and that does not only come through hearing a message preached or taught on a Sunday morning, but more in the secret place of devotion, spending time in His presence!
In closing, let this be your prayer today: “Father, I ask that you will eliminate any voice in my life that is contrary to your Word. Help me to spend more time with you so that my faith will elevate to new dimensions while changing the culture and atmosphere surrounding me in Jesus’ name.”
