Don’t Go to Broadway
Matthew 7:13-14 says, “13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
In the kingdom of God, another broadway exists, and it only leads to destruction. It is sin! It is doing what the populace is convinced is right, fun, and enjoyable when God speaks specifically that it will only cause heartache and pain. He warns us concerning how that so many travel down that road and enter that gate, but the end of it is not good. However, there is a narrow road that leads to life everlasting, and in comparison to the number of those who reject it, very few choose to travel it. It is not a popular path. In fact, people will even persecute and discourage those who choose this path of rightousness. The narrow way is believing upon the gospel of Jesus Christ and choosing to walk in accordance to salvation that is laid out in scripture. It is knowing that Jesus is the only way for one to obtain eternal life. Although many reject this notion, it is the way to heaven and spending eternity in the presence of God Almighty!
This is a narrow way, but it does not mean we have to be narrow minded. It seems like several confuse the two. While a narrow way is living out the gospel, narrow minded people are arrogantly self-righteous. They are convinced that they are right about everything, and they have little to nothing to support their worldview. They just trust in the oral traditions that have been passed down to them throughout generations. They seldom read and apply the Bible to their own lives. They carry a judgmental attitude that is very similar to that of the Pharisees in Jesus’ days on earth. We cannot go against what scripture says because faith in God and His Word absolutely does not allow one to, but we must be open minded to the interpretations of scripture to make sure that we are following that which is true. Many wrong interpretations are the reasons behind the multiple manmade denominations. We have to be willing to ask ourselves questions because, believe it or not, we may be wrong on some things. Therefore, we have to study to show ourselves approved and give many reasons as to why we believe what we believe. If we do not have much Bible to support our views, then our beliefs are in vain. We must be equipped with the knowledge of God’s Word. We must not be narrow minded, but we surely must remain on the narrow way.
