The Inheritance of an Overcomer
Revelation 21:3-7 says, “3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”
So, at the end, what happens if you overcome as a believer in Christ? You will inherit all things. With an inheritance, there is nothing that you could ever do to deserve or earn it. An inheritance is never based on what you done, but who you belong to. There is nothing you can do to earn what God has in store for you. You will beat your mind up continuously, becoming a slave. When you belong to Abba, you are a King’s kid, and all things are your inheritance. What do all things consist of? All things consist of everything that has been made new. In the new heaven and new earth, there is no more grief, death, or pain. We are forever in the presence of the LORD!
But why should we wait until thousands of years from now before reaching this moment? We do not have to wait to die to get to heaven, but we can have heaven on earth. I understand that trouble still exists in the world, but if Jesus died and resurrected, conquering death and spoiling every principality and power, then we too have that very same victory. Spiritually, we can now be seated in heavenly places, having direct access to the throne room of heaven and commune with the Father. Nothing in the flesh or world has to phase us because we belong to God the Father. As children of God through the spirit of adoption, it is time to inherit new things!
It is time to walk in new beginnings. When you accept Jesus as your LORD and Savior, you make a decision for a new start. All of your past is washed in the blood of Jesus Christ as He has now redeemed the time in which we live. You do not have to die before walking in your inheritance. It is time to use it today with the purpose of being the example of Christ and placing the jewels of souls in the crown of our Savior!
With these past two devotionals on overcoming, this would be an awesome prayer to pray: “Father, you are so holy and beautiful! I can call you many names, but the greatest is Abba because it is the demonstration of the greatest love you have shown me. As your son/daughter, I freely receive the inheritance you have for me, not to use with selfish intentions or ambition, but to point others towards you. I pray that your kingdom would be manifested in my heart so that I can leave the past behind and walk in the purpose of new beginnings in which you have for me. Today, I choose to walk in the inheritance of new things. I honor you and praise you in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
